Meningitis B Vaccine Service at ABC Health Clinic

🩺 Protect Yourself Against Meningitis B at ABC Health Clinic, Crawley

Meningitis B is a serious bacterial infection that can lead to life-threatening complications, including meningitis and septicaemia. Vaccination is the most effective way to protect yourself and your family.

The most common strains of the bacteria that can cause invasive disease, which can lead to meningitis and septicaemia are B, C, W and Y in the UK.

At ABC Health Clinic, we offer both the Meningitis B  and Meningitis ACWY vaccines for eligible individuals in a safe, professional, and convenient setting.

💉 Who Should Get the Meningitis B Vaccine?

We provide the Meningitis B vaccine for individuals aged 2 to 50 years.

Older children, teenagers, and adults who were not eligible for the NHS programme can still benefit from vaccination.

Children born in the UK from 2015 onwards are already protected as part of the routine NHS vaccination programme.

📅 Vaccination Schedule

  • 2 doses required

  • The second dose ideally should be administered 4-8 weeks after the first dose

  • A minimum of 4 weeks between doses is required

  • No booster dose needed for children and adults who were administered doses of the vaccine, aged 2 and over

What are the potential side-effects of the Meningitis B Vaccine?

Most people experience mild, short-lived reactions after vaccination (usually within 24–48 hours):

  • Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site

  • Fever (particularly common in infants)

  • Headache

  • Fatigue or feeling generally unwell

  • Muscle or joint pain

  • Nausea

Side effects show the vaccine is teaching the body’s immune system how to protect itself from the disease

In babies and young children, fever can occur in more than 50% of cases, which is why paracetamol is often recommended after vaccination.

How soon do protective antibodies develop?

Protective antibodies for the Meningococcal B vaccine (Bexsero) takes at least 2 weeks after the second dose to reach a high level of protection.
